It is said that a photograph is worth a thousand words. Not only does the viewer have their own perception, but the photographer can tell a story of capture and reason. Below is a small collection of my own photos... When you're through, I invite you to share your comments in my Guestbook.  More photos coming soon...

"Perception"
By Michael D. Gandy

Sunsets are simply amazing. They can be a great ending to a gloomy day, or a steller addition to an exciting day. People take sunsets and perceive them in their own ways. A lot of times they seem like paintings from God. Sometimes they help people expand on their thoughts. Some may consider them an inspiration. When I took this photo, I thought, "What a perfect shot of the sun."  Whatever your perception, it's usually a good one.

"Formation"
By Michael D. Gandy

"The sky's the limit."  You have the freedom to do whatever it is that you want to do. The possibilities are endless. This photo represents your freedom of choice, and your ability to create your own destiny. An unknown "quotester" once said, "Today is the first day of the rest of my life." When I think of these types of quotes and remind myself that I have the ability to form my life to my choosing. Another quote I love is from the movie Vanilla Sky: "Every passing moment is another chance to turn it all around."

"Photograph"
By Michael D. Gandy

Nobody believes me that this is a photograph until I tell them. They all think it was a painting. But that's great! To be able to capture such a rare, unrealistic photo was quite an accomplishment. And when you think about it, we all have false impressions about a lot of things, especially other people we don't know. We judge people based on what we see, not what we know. If you only heard the bad stuff about someone, you may think of them as a bad person, not a good person that made a few mistakes like everybody else. Right?

"Obstacles"
By Michael D. Gandy

Overcoming the obstacles that stand in your way can be challenging and frustrating, but as they say, "Smooth seas do not create skillful sailors." Look at obstacles as opportunities instead of annoyances! When I come to an obstacle at work, I think of it as a game, and when I've defeated it I say, "Checkmate!" Whether it be easy or not, it's important to try to think this way in all of your endeavors...

"American Soldiers"
By Michael D. Gandy

In this photo, you'll see a sense of "nature vs. technology." You'll see how our country has advanced. And the freedom to do so has been at the expense of our soldiers at war. They have done an incredible job fighting for our country, and the least we can do is recognize and appreciate them. The flag in this photo is half-staffed to represent all of the soldiers that lose their lives for us every day... A special thanks to Mike and Jo for their inspiration and acknowledgement by hanging their flag in such a respected manner.

"No Secrets"
By Michael D. Gandy

Yes, this is a picture of the moon. But it's also only partially seen, which is my point. Everybody has unseen parts about them. The moon in this photo is a resemblance of the big picture. We can't see all the fine details that we would be able to see if we were using a high-end telescope or if we were standing on the surface. Take that concept and apply it to people. These unseen parts aren't necessarily secrets, they're just fine details that we fail to pay attention to. Is it always about the big picture? Next time you run into an old friend, don't just ask them what they've been up to, but comment on their appearance and present actions as well. Say, "I like your hair" or "Cool shoes!"
