An Insider's Opinion of Jason's Deli
Some of you may be aware that I am a manager at Jason's deli here in Albuquerque, NM. I began my employment in June 2008 as a 2nd Assistant Manager (2A). Within a year I got promoted to 1st Assistant (1A), and I'm runner up for the next GM position that opens up next year...
Now, I've worked in many restaurants prior to this in all positions available, from a busser to a multi-unit manager, and I've gotta say that Jason's deli far exceeds anywhere I've ever worked when it comes to operational systems, company values, quality, health, and taste.
To begin, as a training manager I was lucky to have gone through a 10-week training program, and when I got out of my training there were many tools available to help keep everybody on the same track and get things done... Our management team is incredible; couldn't be happier!
When it comes to company values, I've always heard managers and owners of restaurants tell their employees, "We want to make good food and keep people happy," but that was all you heard about it. At Jason's deli, we actually have five banners hanging up in our dining room that let our employees AND our customers know exactly what we're doing. And yes, they're not just what we aim for, they're actually what we are doing... They are:
We were actually in the news recently for becoming the first national restaurant chain to go completely HFCS-free. And even though our fountain machine has Coca-Cola products, we do have Boylan's bottled sodas that are HFCS-free, along with many choices of juice, tea, and even organic office.
And besides our monstrous, mouth-watering sandwiches, we've got a huge all-you-can-eat salad bar with organic ingredients, along with many pre-made salads (made fresh daily), delicious pasta dishes, and football-size potatoes.
If you have a laptop with wireless internet, we have FREE WI-FI for those who come in and sit down at any of our 50+ tables. Or, if you're in a hurry you can skip the line and go directly to our to-go counter, or even order for delivery by phone or online. We also have a large catering menu full of trays and box lunches, as well as a Community Partners Program with discounts for schools, churches, and non-profit organizations. I can keep going forever...

We're expanding rapidly too! While most places are closing down, we're popping up in new areas. We've currently got two locations in New Mexico, both in Albuquerque, with the first one opened in October 2007. We're currently planning to open up another one here in Albuquerque, one in Las Cruces, and another in El Paso. All within the next year or two. Our franchise (Coastal Deli, Inc.) now has nine locations, and I know all of our franchise owners by name.
There are tons of great things I can say about Jason's deli, but I'll leave the rest for you to experience for yourselves! :)
